I’m not too keen on taking college classes, even if they’re online, as I prefer the freedom of self-pacing, but I primarily use AccountingCoach.com for my studies and would be interested in getting some kind of work experience, even if it’s unpaid.
From lurking around, it seems nonprofits are keen on volunteers. Would that be a good way to get experience on top of studying? How much should I know beforehand?
What other material/software would you recommend? I know Quickbooks is prevalent; I should get a trial run of that at least. How about Excel? Does that require lessons specific to bookkeeping, or can I just use something like ExcelIsFun on Youtube?
I’m pretty much self-driven at the moment. Thanks for any information.
