A family member of mine is currently receiving Medi-Cal benefits. Her home is currently titled in her Trust. She needs to make some major repairs to the house, but she’s worried that if she takes out a loan, that money will make her ineligible for Medi-Cal. She was talking about transferring the house to 2 of her kids, so that the loan would be taken out in their name. She also wants to make sure that the house passes to all 5 of her kids equally when she passes, but that might be tricky if she transfers it to just 2 of the kids while she’s alive. Any thoughts or suggestions?
