BNPL Laybuy Joins up With Illusionist Ryan Tricks to Celebrate Launch of App Exclusives

Illusionist Ryan Tricks has joined forces with leading Buy Now, Pay Later provider Laybuy to amaze shoppers by giving them their dream items after making them appear magically out of nowhere.

As part of the celebration, Ryan surprised and delighted unsuspecting passing shoppers by conjuring up prizes out of nowhere, including making a QR code appear from thin air. When scanned, the illusionist’s shocked shopper was told they had won £1,000.

Other prizes included one shopper finding freshly dropped Nike trainers appearing in an empty box with their name and correct shoe size, while another who had said they had always wanted to visit Iceland was rewarded with tickets from Lastminute.com after they appeared out of thin air.

Laura Malik, a 35 year old children’s nurse from Whitefield Manchester, said: “I spotted the mural so stopped to take a picture, and I’m definitely glad I did! My husband and I had the day off today so we just popped into town for some lunch as this is a very rare day together without the kids and I can’t believe how it’s turned out. I’m absolutely blown away – thank you Laybuy!”

BNPL Laybuy Joins up With Illusionist Ryan Tricks to Celebrate Launch of App ExclusivesThe series of illusions, that took place on the streets of Manchester, celebrated the launch of Laybuy’s App Exclusives which sees hundreds of the UK’s favourite retailers added onto the Laybuy App.

The activity took place against the backdrop of Laybuy’s magic scannable mural, which was unveiled last week and offers shoppers the chance to win hundreds of cash prizes.

Designed by leading celebrity artist Donna Adi, the innovative street art contains a hidden code that, when scanned in real life or from a photograph, takes shoppers to a special webpage where they can enter a draw to win a share of £10,000 to spend on any of the hundreds of new brands featured on the Laybuy app.

Ryan Tricks, Illusionist, said: “It’s always my goal is to see surprise, mild confusion, and excitement on the faces of my audience, and by making these dream items from Laybuy appear magically out of nowhere I was definitely able to bring this to Manchester for the day.”

“It was a first for me using QR code technology to add an extra twist to my tricks, and it’s exciting for me to know that anyone who now sees this mural has the chance to get their hands on one of the amazing prizes I’ve been surprising people with today.”

The mural forms the centrepiece of Laybuy’s nationwide ‘Laybuy Scavenger Hunt’ competition, which sees similar codes hidden in Laybuy digital billboards across the country. If people spot a code, they can scan it for the chance to win one of the 100 cash prizes available, ranging from £50 right up £1,000.

Starting this month, customers can shop over 5,000 of their favourite brands for the first time all in one place within the Laybuy app, rather than on individual partner websites.

Laybuy Co-Founder Robyn Rohloff, said: “We’re celebrating the fact that shoppers can now shop at hundreds of their favourite brands for the first time all in one place within our app, rather than on individual partner websites.

“It means people can shop and pay in six interest-free instalments for household items, clothes, shoes, make-up and even holidays all in one go if desired, with brands added ranging from Amazon, ASOS, Charlotte Tilbury, Jimmy Choo and Nike, to Lastminute.com  and eBay.”
